Maya's Blog: Week 1, Beginning the Ultra Lite Experience

Written by Emma Tommasini

The Ultra Lite weight loss program is a ketogenic diet program that tracks your proteins and carbs and re-educates the brain to provide rapid and sustained weight loss results.

Last week I met with Megan and Sheridan at First Things First to talk with them about what the Ultra Lite program can do for me. I wanted to try a meal plan based program because I had recently done an 8-week exercise challenge and not seen the results I had hoped for.

At my consultation, I weighed in at 75.5kg, and am hoping to reach 68kg by the completion of the 5-week plan. As a newbie to any sort of meal plan or diet, I’m keen to see the results that I might be able to have from the Ultra Lite program. I wanted to continue on the path of a lifestyle program versus a strict diet.

Prior to starting the meal plan, I forecasted what I would be eating for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner until I met with Sheridan again. I planned lots of different recipes to see which were the easiest and the ones I liked the best. From there, I was able to do an online grocery shop with everything I was going to need, to ensure that I would never be unprepared for my meals each day. I knew that the only way I was going to stay on track was to make sure that each morning I woke up and knew exactly what I was going to eat for the whole day!

Before starting the program, I was really worried about what I was going to have to eat. I’m not a generally fussy eater, but I like to have variety in my food. Thankfully, with Ultra Lite I get to choose what I eat every day as long as it fits within my macros. Some of my favourites from the manual so far are the Chilli Mince, Breakfast Smoothie and Greek Meatballs with Tzatziki Dip.

I prepared a few meals in bulk at the start of the program, which I think has really helped me not to lose focus. Some days I haven’t been bothered to cook something or I have been rushed for time, so the meal prep that I did has been super useful in those instances. I have been pleasantly surprised by how easy it has been to adapt to the keto style of eating, because it is really similar to the kind of food I was eating prior, and I can still have coffee!!

I have been trying to have at least one Ultra Lite sachet per day, by adding the strawberry flavour in my breakfast smoothie or adding the vanilla flavour into my cottage cheese pancakes.

I’m nervous for my first weigh-in, but I’m excited to see the results. Even if they don’t show on the scale, the Ultra Lite has increased my energy and alertness dramatically.
